Chat filter
Star out swearing, slurs and explicit words in your community chat. Communities without the 18+ badge always have the filter on.
On this page
The chat filter stars out words in your community chat on the website and in the app. It also
covers messages synced in from your Discord server. The first letter stays and the rest become
stars, so shit shows as s***.
Levels#
- Standard (PG-13): what radio and TV bleep. That means strong swearing, slurs and explicit sexual words. Words like damn, hell and crap stay. This is the default.
- Strict: Standard, plus milder words like damn, hell, crap, ass and bitch. For younger communities.
- Off: no filter. Only communities with the 18+ badge can switch it off. You set that badge in Page & look › Header. If the badge is removed later, the chat goes back to Standard.
What it doesn't bleep#
The filter checks whole words, so a word that only contains a filtered word stays as it is: class, Scunthorpe, shiitake, cocktail, Dickens and assume are never touched. Words with an everyday farm meaning, like cock (a rooster) and tit (a bird), aren't on either list.
It does catch the usual tricks: capitals, repeated letters (fuuuck), look-alike characters (sh!t, @ss) and spaced-out letters (f u c k, f.u.c.k).
Your own words#
- Also filter these words: words your community doesn't want, at every level. One per line.
- Never filter these words: a word the filter catches by mistake, like a farm or player name.
