Reporting a mod
Tell ModBarn staff and the mod's team about a broken, unsafe, stolen or misleading mod with the Report a problem button, and get a notification when staff have looked at it. Modding teams see and answer reports on their mods.

Found a ModBarn mod that doesn't work, looks unsafe or was uploaded by someone who didn't make it? Report it from the mod's page. ModBarn staff and the mod's team see your report, but the team never sees who sent it. You get a notification once staff have looked at it.
Before you start#
- Sign in with Discord. You can open the report form without signing in, but you need to sign in to send it.
- ModBarn mods only. The Report a problem button is on mods uploaded to ModBarn. Mods that come from GIANTS ModHub don't have it.
- Not your own team's mods. You can't report a mod made by a team you're on.
Report a mod#
Find the mod on Mods and open it.
It's near the Download Mod button.
Choose the reason that fits best (see Reasons).
Write 10 to 1,000 characters: an error message, which part is broken, or where the original mod is from. The form shows which version of the mod you're reporting.
You see a thank-you message when it's sent.
Reasons#
| Reason | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Doesn't work | Errors, crashes, missing parts or it doesn't load. |
| Suspicious files | Viruses, odd programs or anything harmful. |
| Stolen or reuploaded | Someone else's mod shared without permission. |
| Paid DLC content | It contains content from paid DLC or another game. |
| Inappropriate | Offensive content, images or text. |
| Wrong information | The name, pictures or description don't match the mod. |
| Something else | Anything else. Explain it in the text box. |
For Stolen or reuploaded, say where the original mod is (a ModHub page or the author's name). It helps staff check much faster.
What happens next#
Staff review every report. Reports about suspicious files go to the top of their list. When they've decided, you get a website notification saying what they did:
| Outcome | What it means |
|---|---|
| No problem found | Staff checked the mod and didn't find a problem. |
| Modding team asked to fix it | The mod's team has been told what to fix. |
| Mod details corrected | Staff fixed the mod's name, description or other details. |
| Mod hidden from the site | The mod is no longer shown on ModBarn. |
| Mod hidden and its file deleted | The mod is gone from ModBarn for good. |
Staff may also tell the modding team what they decided. The team isn't told who sent the reports.
What the modding team sees#
The mod's team gets a notification and sees your report on their mod: the reason, what you wrote, the version you reported and the date. They never see your name, and they don't see staff's notes. Reports about Suspicious files or Stolen or reuploaded mods reach the team only once staff have started looking at them.
The team sees exactly what you wrote, so leave your name and contact details out of it.
For modding teams#
Reports on your team's ModBarn mods show on the mod's Edit Mod page, on the Reports tab. Mods with open reports are listed under Needs your attention on Modder › Overview, and Modder › My Mods shows a report badge next to them. Every team member gets a notification when a new report comes in.
- Who sent it: you never see who reported the mod.
- Suspicious files and stolen mods: these show up once staff mark them as being reviewed. Staff check them first, so you'll get a notification when one is shared with your team.
- Status: New, Staff reviewing, or what staff decided (for example Modding team asked to fix it or No problem found).
Go to Modder › My Mods, press Edit on the mod and open Reports.
Write what you found or why it isn't a problem (up to 1,000 characters). If an update fixes it, fill in We fixed this in version, for example 1.0.0.1.
Staff see your answer next to the report in their review. You can change it later.
Fixed it? Publish the update in File & updates and put its version in your answer, so staff know which version to check before they close the report.
Limits#
- You can have one open report per mod. Once staff have dealt with it, you can report the mod again if the problem comes back.
- You can send up to 10 reports a day.
Troubleshooting#
I don't see the Report a problem button#
The mod comes from GIANTS ModHub, not ModBarn. Report problems with ModHub mods to GIANTS.
"You already reported this mod"#
Your earlier report is still open. Staff will look at it soon, and you'll get a notification.
"This mod can't be reported"#
The mod isn't public on ModBarn any more, for example because staff or its team have hidden it.
"You have sent a lot of reports today"#
You've reached the daily limit. Try again tomorrow.
A report I got a notification about isn't on the Reports tab#
You opened Edit Mod for a different mod, or you're no longer on the mod's team. Reports only show to members of the team that owns the mod.
