Image-only channels
Turn a channel into a clean screenshot gallery. The bot deletes any message without an image and can post a short reminder you write yourself.
On this page
Image-only channels keep your screenshot and showcase channels tidy. When someone posts a message without an image, the bot deletes it and can post a reminder. Members can still add a caption to their picture, so a screenshot with "My new dairy farm!" stays put.
Before you start#
- Members with the Ban Members permission (and Administrators) can post anything, so your staff can still chat in the channel. Test with a regular member account.
- Messages from bots are never deleted.
- If a channel is missing from the dropdown, run
/setupin Discord, choose Update Channels and Roles for Website, then refresh the page.
Set it up#
It's under Moderation in the sidebar. Scroll down to the Image Only Channels card.
A form opens.
Choose it in Image Only Channel.
Type the reminder the bot posts after it deletes a message in Response. You can use placeholders (see below). Leave it empty to delete messages silently.
Click Add Image Only Channel. The channel appears in the table under the button.
To change a channel or its response later, click the green pencil next to it. On the Edit Image Only Channel page, update Image Only Channel or Response and click Update Image Only Channel. Back to Messages Filter returns to the list. The red trash button removes the channel from the list, and the bot stops checking it.
You can add as many image-only channels as you like, each with its own response.
Settings explained#
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Image Only Channel | The channel where every message needs an image. | None |
| Response | What the bot posts after deleting a message. It deletes itself after 60 seconds. Empty means no reminder. | Empty |
What counts as an image#
A message stays if it has at least one attachment and every attachment is an image. Any text with it is fine.
The bot deletes a message when:
- it's text only,
- it only has a link, even a link to an image or GIF,
- it has a sticker but no uploaded image,
- any of its attachments isn't an image (for example a video or a
.zipmod file).
Placeholders#
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{author} | A mention of the member whose message was deleted |
{server} | Your server's name |
{members} | Your server's member count |
{role:ROLE_ID} | A mention of that role, for example {role:123456789012345678} |
{user:USER_ID} | A mention of that member |
{channel:CHANNEL_ID} | A link to that channel |
To get an ID, turn on Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings → Advanced), then right-click the role, member or channel and choose Copy ID.
Examples#
A friendly reminder that points to your chat channel:
{author} this channel is for screenshots only 📸 Chat about them in {channel:123456789012345678}!What the member sees for 60 seconds after their text message is removed:
@FarmerJoe this channel is for screenshots only 📸 Chat about them in #farm-talk!
Pair an image-only channel with a chat channel, or let members reply in a thread on each screenshot. The bot doesn't check messages inside threads of an image-only channel, because each thread is a channel of its own.
Troubleshooting#
Text messages aren't deleted#
- Make sure you tested from an account without Ban Members or Administrator.
- The bot needs Manage Messages and Send Messages in that channel.
- Check the channel is listed in the Image Only Channels table.
Screenshots are being deleted#
The message had an attachment that isn't an image, or the picture was pasted as a link instead of uploaded. Upload the image file directly.
The reminder doesn't show up#
The Response is empty. Open the channel with the pencil button, add a response and click Update Image Only Channel.
