Before the bot can do anything, it has to be a member of your Discord server. Adding it takes one click and a quick Discord confirmation screen. This page explains the ways to invite the bot, what each one asks for, how to pick your community on the website, and what the bot does as soon as it joins.
Before you start#
To manage the server on the website afterwards, you need to be the server owner or have Administrator or Manage Server there.
Ways to invite the bot#
| Where you click | Permissions the bot asks for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Add Farm Sim Game to your server (the button below and on other docs pages) | Manage Server | Discord asks you to pick a server. |
| A greyed-out server on My Communities | Administrator | Shown for servers you manage that don't have the bot yet. |
| A faded server icon in the dashboard's server rail | Administrator | Hover shows "Add the FSG Bot to server name". The server you clicked is already picked. |
All of them add the same bot with its slash commands. You can untick permissions on Discord's screen, but the bot can only do what its role allows.
The Add Farm Sim Game to your server button only asks for Manage Server. Some features need
more, and /setup only runs when the bot has Administrator in the channel. If /setup replies
"Bot is missing Administrator permissions, bot needs them to use this command.", give the bot's
role Administrator in Server Settings → Roles, or re-invite it from My Communities.
Bot permissions lists what each feature needs.
Set it up#
Use the button below, or a greyed-out server on My Communities if you're already logged in.
Discord shows the servers where you have Manage Server. Choose one and click Continue.
Discord lists the permissions the bot is asking for. Leave them ticked, then click Authorize.
Click Login with Discord at the top of farmsimgame.com. Discord asks you to let Farm Sim Game see your account, email and server list. Click Authorize.
Go to My Communities (/MyDiscords) and click your server's card. You'll see "You have successfully selected your active community." and land on its dashboard.

Choosing your community on My Communities#
My Communities (/MyDiscords) lists every Discord server you can manage. The server you pick
becomes your active community: the dashboard, Game servers and every other setting on the site
work on that one server until you pick another.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| A card in full color | The bot is in that server. Click it to make it your active community. |
| A greyed-out card | The bot isn't in that server yet. Click it to invite the bot (asks for Administrator). |
| Premium under the name | That community has Premium turned on. See Premium. |
| Get Support | Opens a new support ticket on the website. |
A server is listed when you're its owner or have Administrator or Manage Server there. The dashboard re-checks this every time you open it. If you lose the permission, you see "You do not have Admin permissions for that discord server." and are sent back to My Communities.
Click Switch on the community card at the top of the dashboard sidebar, or click another server's icon in the server rail on the left.
What happens after the bot joins#
As soon as the bot joins your server it:
- Registers your server with the website, so it shows on My Communities.
- Copies your channels and roles to the website, so the dashboard's channel and role lists are filled in.
- Says hello in a channel called
#general, or#welcomeif you have no#general, as long as it can send messages there.
After that, the bot keeps the website's channel and role lists up to date when you create or edit
channels and roles. If the copy didn't happen (for example the bot was offline when you added it),
the dashboard shows Finish connecting this server first. at the top. Run /setup and choose
Update Channels and Roles for Website to fix it. See
First setup with /setup.
Check that the bot is working#
Type /ping in any channel. The bot replies privately with "Pong!" and a Ping card showing its
API latency and uptime. If nothing happens, see Troubleshooting.
/help EveryoneDisplays Help Information.
/ping EveryoneDisplays the ping of the bot and discord api.
Removing the bot#
To remove the bot, kick it from your server in Discord (right-click it in the member list → Kick). The website marks the bot as no longer active there, and the server shows as greyed-out on My Communities until you add the bot again.
Troubleshooting#
My server isn't in Discord's list#
You don't have Manage Server there. Ask the owner to add the bot, or to give you a role with Manage Server or Administrator.
My server isn't on My Communities#
- You need to be the owner, or have Administrator or Manage Server, in that server.
- If the page says "Unable to find any servers.", log out and log back in with Discord so the website can read your server list again.
The dashboard says "Finish connecting this server first."#
The website can't see your channels or roles yet. Don't save anything until the message is gone.
In your Discord server, run /setup, choose Update Channels and Roles for Website, then refresh
the page.
The bot never posted its hello message#
That's harmless. The bot only posts it if your server has a channel called #general or #welcome
that it can send messages in. If it can't send there, the dashboard's Bot Error Logs shows
Welcome New Server.
