Member count channels
Show your server's live member and bot counts as voice channel names, like "Members » 1234", updated automatically when people join or leave.
On this page
Member count channels show your community's size right in the channel list. The bot renames a voice channel to your current member count, and optionally another to your bot count, so everyone can watch the server grow. In the dashboard this page is called Counter channels.
Before you start#
- Create a voice channel for each count first. Only voice channels inside a category show in the dropdowns.
- Members don't need to join these channels. Many servers stop members connecting to them in the channel's permissions.
- If a channel is missing from the list, run
/setupin Discord, choose Update Channels and Roles for Website, then reload the page.
Set it up#
For example two voice channels at the top of a "Server Stats" category.
It's under Overview in the sidebar.
In Discord Bot Stats Settings, choose a Members Count Channel and, if you like, a Bots Count Channel.
Click Update Bot Settings.
The names change the next time someone joins or leaves your server.
Settings explained#
| Setting | What the channel name becomes | When it updates | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Members Count Channel | Members » 1234: your server's total member count, bots included. | Whenever anyone joins or leaves. | Disabled |
| Bots Count Channel | Bots » 3: how many bots are in your server. | Only when a bot joins or leaves. | Disabled |
The bot count goes up or down by one from the number already in the channel name. If the name
isn't in the Bots » number format yet, the bot works out the count itself.
Discord only allows a channel's name to be changed 2 times every 10 minutes. When members join or leave faster than that, the bot waits and then shows the latest count, so these channels can be up to 10 minutes behind on a busy server.
Examples#
Your channel list after setup:
📊 SERVER STATS
🔈 Members » 1234
🔈 Bots » 3Troubleshooting#
Problems are written to Bot Error Logs on your dashboard's main page.
The channel name doesn't change#
- Names only change when someone joins or leaves. Wait for the next one.
- Give the bot Manage Channels. Bot Error Logs shows Members Count Channel, Member Count Channel or Bots Count Channel with "Unable to manage channels…" when it's missing.
- On a busy server the update can take up to 10 minutes (see above).
My channel isn't in the dropdown#
Only voice channels inside a category are listed. Move the voice channel into a category, run
/setup → Update Channels and Roles for Website, then reload the page.
The bot count is wrong#
Rename the channel in Discord to the right number in the same format, for example Bots » 4.
The bot counts on from there the next time a bot joins or leaves.
