/setup is the bot's admin command in Discord. It connects your server's channels and roles to the
website, lets you choose who can use each command, turns Premium on for your server, and posts a
ticket button or an application menu. This page walks through each option and ends with a checklist
of what to set up next.
Before you start#
Haven't added the bot yet? Start with Add the bot to your server.
Set it up#
/setup in any channel of your serverDiscord asks you to pick a feature. It's required.
Press Enter. The bot copies your channels and roles to the website and tells you how many it found.
Log in on the website, choose your server on My Communities, and check that the yellow Finish connecting this server first. box is gone.
See What to set up next below.
The /setup command#
/setup <feature> AdministratorAdmin bot setup for discord server settings.
Every /setup reply is private: only you see it. Pick one feature each time you run it:
| feature choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Command Roles | Shows the commands you can limit to certain roles, with the roles allowed now. Pick a command, then pick the roles that may use it. See Command roles. |
| My Premium Settings | Shows your supporter tier and which server your Premium is on. |
| Make Server Premium | Puts your Premium on the server you're in. See Turn on Premium. |
| Update Channels and Roles for Website | Copies this server's current channels and roles to the website so the dashboard can list them. |
| Create Application Embed with Dropdown | Asks for Application Embed Text, then posts an embed in this channel with a dropdown of your server's applications. |
| Create Ticket Embed with Button | Asks for Ticket Embed Text, then posts an embed in this channel with a 🎫 Create Ticket button. |
Update Channels and Roles for Website#
The dashboard's channel and role lists come from a copy of your server stored on the website. The bot makes that copy when it joins, and updates it when channels or roles are created or edited. If the website has no channels or no roles for your server, every dashboard page shows this at the top:
This page can't see this Discord server's channels or roles yet, so don't save anything until this
message is gone. In your Discord server use /setup and select Update Channels and Roles for Website,
then refresh this page.
Run /setup and choose Update Channels and Roles for Website. The bot first says it's updating,
then replies with what it copied:
👁️ Only you can see this • Dismiss message
Run it again whenever a new channel or role is missing from a dashboard list. If something goes wrong, the bot replies "Error updating server channels and roles with website."
With no channels or roles to choose from, channel and role fields would save empty and could clear what you had.
Command Roles#
Most commands only work for Administrators until you allow a role to use them. Command Roles lets you do that from Discord:
/setup and choose Command RolesThe bot lists 8 commands per page with the roles allowed for each, or No Roles Setup. Use Previous and Next to page through.
Choose it in Select a slash command to update roles for.
In Search for roles to allow., select up to 25 roles. Deselect a role to remove it.
The bot confirms the command and lists any roles you added. Removed roles are taken off without a separate message.
Select a slash command to update roles for. ▾
Previous Next
You can do the same thing, and assign a role to a whole category at once, on the website. The Command roles guide explains both and lists every command.
Turn on Premium#
Premium belongs to the supporter's account, and you choose which community gets it. You can do this on the website with Make Server Premium in the dashboard sidebar, or in Discord:
/setup and choose Make Server PremiumThe bot shows your tier and your Premium Server (or No Server Selected).
If the server already has Premium the button says This Server Has Premium and is greyed out.
Click Yes on "Are you sure you would like to enable premium for this discord server?". The bot replies "Server name now has premium enabled!"
Are you sure you would like to enable premium for this discord server?
Example Farm
Yes Cancel
👁️ Only you can see this • Dismiss message
If your Premium is already on another server, the bot shows a Select Discord Server to Replace Premium On! menu instead. Pick the Replace Premium Server entry and your Premium moves to the server you're in: "Server name has been replaced by this server."
Don't have a supporter tier? My Premium Settings and Make Server Premium reply "You currently do not have premium." with links to upgrade. See Premium.
Post a ticket button or application menu#
These two options open a box where you type the text for the embed (up to 500 characters). The bot
then posts the embed publicly in the channel where you ran /setup, so run it in the channel
you want members to use.
🎫 Create Ticket
- Create Ticket Embed with Button posts Server name Ticket with a 🎫 Create Ticket button. Set up the ticket system first.
- Create Application Embed with Dropdown posts Server name Applications with a Select an Application. dropdown. If your server has no applications, the bot replies "This server does not currently have any applications setup. Please contact server staff." Create them first on Applications.

Troubleshooting#
I can't see /setup#
It only appears for members with Administrator. Server owners can also change who sees commands in Server Settings → Integrations.
"Bot is missing Administrator permissions, bot needs them to use this command."#
The bot's role doesn't have Administrator in that channel. Give it Administrator in
Server Settings → Roles, then run /setup again. This message deletes itself after 10 seconds.
The warning is still showing after I synced#
Refresh the dashboard page. If it's still there, run Update Channels and Roles for Website again and check that the bot replied with a channel and role count.
"✋ Only the person that created that message can interact with it."#
The Premium buttons on a /setup reply only work for whoever ran the command. Run /setup yourself.
"✋ You do not have premium."#
Give This Server Premium needs a supporter tier on the Discord account you're using. Check Supporter details, or ask in the FSG Discord.
