These tools help you get to know the people who play on your game server. The bot can post a map of where each player went and of your equipment when they log off, flag every new player with their unique game ID, link players to their Discord accounts, build a block list for your server, and hand out Discord roles as players rack up hours.
Before you start#
- Player Tracking and Equipment Tracking need Bronze or higher.
- New Player Unique Ids and the Game Player Block List need any supporter tier.
- Playtime Roles need Silver or higher.
See Premium or Supporter Details.
- Your game server must already be added. See Add your game server.
- Unique game IDs come from your savegame, so set up Extended Settings (Server Url, Admin Username, Admin Password and Savegame Scan) first.
- Playtime roles and showing players by their Discord name need the bot to know which player is online. The FSG Server Companion mod sends each player's unique ID with the server's live data. Without it (console servers), the bot matches the in-game name to the unique ID in your savegame, which works for any name only one player on the server has used. A new player is matched after the next autosave and savegame scan.
Script mods aren't allowed on consoles. If the FSG Server Companion mod is on your server, console players can't join it.
Set it up#
Go to Game servers and click the edit (pencil) button next to your game server.
In the Premium Features card, pick a channel for Player Tracking Notifications and one for Equipment Tracking Notifications.
In the Extended Settings card, under Game Server New Player Unique Ids, pick a channel for New Player Unique Game ID. Use a staff-only channel, because the alerts have staff buttons.
Under Game Server Playtime Roles, pick a channel for Level Up Notifications.
Click Save Server Settings under On this page (or Save in the jump bar).
Under Game Server Playtime Roles, choose a role, type the Playtime Minutes # and click Add. Each role saves straight away and shows in the table below. Repeat for each milestone.
Settings explained#
| Setting | Where | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Player Tracking Notifications | Premium Features | When a player leaves, the bot posts a map of where they went, with their uptime, idle time and playtime. | Disabled |
| Equipment Tracking Notifications | Premium Features | When a player leaves, the bot posts a map of your server's equipment. | Disabled |
| New Player Unique Game ID | Extended Settings | The bot posts an alert for each new player found in your savegame, with their unique game ID and staff buttons. | Disabled |
| Level Up Notifications | Extended Settings | The bot posts here when a linked player earns a playtime role. | Disabled |
| Playtime roles (role + Playtime Minutes #) | Extended Settings | The role a linked player gets once their playtime on this server reaches that many minutes. Minimum 1. | None |
Player and equipment tracking#
Both posts are sent each time a player leaves the game server.
- Player Tracking shows the map with the path the player took this session, plus their Uptime, Idle Time and PlayTime in minutes. PlayTime is uptime minus idle time.
- Equipment Tracking shows the map with where your server's equipment is right now.
Members can also look up the equipment map any time with /game server equipment or
/game servers equipment. See Game server commands.
If the player is linked to a Discord member, Player shows their Discord mention instead of the in-game name.
New player unique IDs#
Every player gets a unique game ID that stays the same even if they change their name. When the savegame scan finds a player the bot hasn't announced yet, it posts an alert in your New Player Unique Game ID channel. If the same ID has played under other names on Farm Sim Game servers, they're listed under Matched Nicknames for Game ID, which helps you spot returning players.
Assign Discord User Id Add to Block List
The embed is orange until the player is linked to Discord, then green with a User Id Assigned field. The buttons only work for members with Manage Messages. Anyone else gets "✋ You do not have permission to do that."
Link a player to their Discord account#
In Discord, turn on Developer Mode (User Settings › Advanced), then right-click the member and choose Copy User ID.
It's on the player's New Player alert. A form opens.
Paste it into What is the players Discord User Id Number? and submit.
The bot checks that the ID belongs to a member of your Discord. If it does, the alert gets a Player Discord Id Added field and the button changes to Change Discord User Id. If not, you see "🤦 Discord User Id Match Not Found. Unable to update player."
Once a player is linked:
- Join and leave messages show their Discord mention instead of their in-game name (with premium).
/playtimefinds their playtime when someone looks them up by Discord user.- They can earn playtime roles.
The link is saved on that player's record for that game server. If you run several servers, link the player from each server's New Player alert.
Block a player#
Click Add to Block List on a player's New Player alert. A form asks Why is this player being blocked? (up to 255 characters). The alert gets a Player Added to Block List field with the reason, who blocked them and when, and the button changes to Remove From Block List. Unblocking adds a Player Removed from Block List note in the same way.
The bot keeps the list. To enforce it, copy the list onto your game server, as shown below.
Use the block list on your server#
Go to Game servers and click Game Player Block List above the server list (or go straight to /MyBlockList).
The page shows a ready-made blockedUserIds.xml for every player blocked in this Discord. Click Copy.
Paste it into blockedUserIds.xml in your game server's profile folder. You need FTP access to your server to edit this file.
The file looks like this:
<blockedUserIds>
<user uniqueUserId="a1b2c3d4e5f6..." platformUserId="" platformId="1" displayName="FarmerJoe"/>
</blockedUserIds>The list covers every game server in this Discord. After you block or unblock someone, copy the list again and replace the file.
Playtime roles#
Playtime roles reward your regulars. You set milestones in minutes, for example 600 minutes (10 hours) for "Farmhand" and 6000 minutes (100 hours) for "Veteran Farmer". When a linked player leaves the game server and their total playtime on it has reached a milestone, the bot gives them that role.
- Playtime counts only time they weren't idle.
- Each game server has its own milestones and its own playtime totals.
- The player must be linked to their Discord account and still be a member of your Discord.
- The bot checks when the player leaves the server, so a new milestone is given at the end of the session that reached it.
- Roles are only added, never removed. Players keep earlier milestone roles as they earn new ones.
If you picked a Level Up Notifications channel, the bot announces each new role:
To delete a milestone, click the delete button next to it in the playtime roles table and confirm.
Commands#
/playtime [discord_user] [player] EveryoneDisplay game server playtime for a Discord user or an in-game player name.
Anyone can use /playtime. Leave both options empty to look yourself up, pick a discord_user
to look up a linked member, or type a player name to search by in-game name. Use one option,
not both. See Game server commands for an example.
Troubleshooting#
Tracking images don't post#
- Check you picked a channel and clicked Save Server Settings.
- The bot needs Send Messages, Embed Links and Attach Files there. If it can't send, Bot Error Logs on your dashboard shows Dedi Player Tracking Embed or Dedi Equipment Tracking Embed.
- Your Discord needs Bronze or higher. Servers added before the supporter tiers changed keep Bronze-level game server features.
- The maps are drawn on your server's map image. If Farm Sim Game has no map image for your map, there's no picture to post.
No New Player alerts appear#
- Savegame Scan must be Enabled in Extended Settings, and Last Savegame Update should show a recent time. Use Test Server Login to check your details.
- Each player is only announced once. The first time, you may also get alerts for players who were already in your savegame.
Playtime roles aren't given#
- The player must be linked with Assign Discord User Id on that game server.
- Without the FSG Server Companion mod, the bot finds the player by in-game name. Two players who have used the same name on the server can't be told apart, so neither is matched.
- Your Discord needs Silver or higher.
- The bot needs Manage Roles, and its role must be above the playtime role. Otherwise Bot Error Logs shows Playtime Role Assignment with "Missing Permissions: Manage Roles".
- Roles are checked when the player leaves the server. Ask them to log off once.
"Discord User Id Match Not Found"#
The ID must be a Discord user ID (a long number), and that person must be a member of your Discord. Usernames and mentions don't work.
