Auto responder
Have the bot reply automatically when a member sends a trigger message. Great for game sync warnings, server IPs, rules reminders and FAQs.
On this page
The auto responder answers common messages for you. You set a Command (the trigger) and a Response. When a member sends a message that is exactly the trigger, the bot replies in the same channel. Many Farming Simulator communities use it for game sync warnings, the server IP and password, or a quick link to the rules.
Before you start#
- How many auto responses you can have depends on your supporter tier (see Limits).
- If a channel is missing from the dashboard lists, run
/setupin Discord, choose Update Channels and Roles for Website, then reload the page.
Set it up#
It's under Automation & alerts in the sidebar.
A form opens. If the button is missing, you've reached your tier's limit.
In Command, type the message the bot should react to, for example !ip or sync.
In Response, type what the bot should send back. You can use placeholders.
Pick a Monitored Channel to only reply there, or an Ignored Channel to reply everywhere except there.
Click Add Response. The new response shows in Active Responses and works right away.
Edit or delete a response#
In Active Responses, click the pencil button to open Edit auto response. Change any field and click Update Response, or click Back to Auto Responder to leave without saving. Click the trash button to delete a response. You're asked to confirm first.
Settings explained#
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Command | The trigger. The bot replies when a member's whole message matches it. | — |
| Response | The message the bot sends back. Supports placeholders. | — |
| Monitored Channel | The bot only replies when the trigger is sent in this channel. | Disabled |
| Ignored Channel | The bot replies in every channel except this one. It's only used when no Monitored Channel is set. | Disabled |
How matching works#
- The whole message must be the trigger. With the trigger
!ip, the message!ipgets a reply, butwhat is the !ipdoesn't. - The reply is a normal message in the channel where the trigger was sent. It isn't a reply thread and the trigger message stays.
- Messages from bots (including Farm Sim Game itself) never trigger a response.
- If the message filters delete a message, the auto responder doesn't answer it.
- If two responses have the same trigger, only one of them is sent. Give each trigger its own response.
Use plain words and symbols like ! or ?. The website stores &, <, > and " in an
encoded form, so a trigger that contains them won't match what members type.
Placeholders#
Use these in the Response. They're filled in each time the bot replies.
| Placeholder | Becomes |
|---|---|
{author} | A mention of the member who sent the trigger |
{server} | Your Discord server's name |
{members} | Your server's member count |
{role:ROLE_ID} | A mention of that role |
{user:USER_ID} | A mention of that user |
{channel:CHANNEL_ID} | A link to that channel |
To get an ID, turn on Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings > Advanced), then right-click a role, user or channel and choose Copy ID. See every placeholder in the placeholder reference.
Examples#
Game sync warning#
Command:
syncResponse:
{author} if you're stuck on "synchronizing", leave the server, wait a minute and rejoin. Still stuck? Ask in {channel:CHANNEL_ID}.sync
@Alex if you're stuck on "synchronizing", leave the server, wait a minute and rejoin. Still stuck? Ask in #server-help.
Server info#
Command:
!ipResponse:
Welcome to {server}! Our Farming Simulator server details are pinned in {channel:CHANNEL_ID}. Need a hand? Ping {role:ROLE_ID}.Welcome to Green Acres Farming! Our Farming Simulator server details are pinned in #server-info. Need a hand? Ping @Farm Staff.
Replace CHANNEL_ID and ROLE_ID with your own IDs.
Limits#
Every tier can use the auto responder. Higher supporter tiers can have more responses:
| Tier | Auto responses |
|---|---|
| Free | 5 |
| Bronze | 10 |
| Silver | 15 |
| Gold | 25 |
| Platinum and Diamond | Unlimited |
The bar at the top of the page shows how many you've used. See Premium or the supporter plans for more.
Troubleshooting#
The bot doesn't reply#
- Check the member typed the trigger as the whole message, with nothing before or after it.
- If you set a Monitored Channel, the trigger only works in that channel.
- If you set an Ignored Channel, the trigger doesn't work in that channel.
- If you left both channels on Disabled and nothing happens, pick a Monitored Channel, click Update Response and try again there.
- Look for Message Auto Response in Bot Error Logs on your dashboard. Give the bot Send Messages in that channel.
- Test with a member account. The bot ignores other bots.
Symbols show up as codes like &#
The website encodes &, <, > and " when it saves the Response, and the bot sends it as
stored. Write "and" instead of &, and use placeholders like {role:ROLE_ID} for mentions
instead of typing <@&…>.
I can't add another response#
The Add Response button disappears when you reach your tier's limit. Delete one you don't need, or upgrade your tier.
